On the day of my wedding I woke up feeling so excited, without any of the anxiety I had on my wedding day with Tony. My parents had arrived and their presence on this big day meant a lot to me. I looked at the shining chandelier above and smiled.

“Enough day-dreaming. Get off that bed so that we can prepare you for the day ahead,” instructed my mother. “It’s your big day and I’m very proud of you.”

She came to hug and kiss me on the forehead.

“Thank you mom,” I said happily.

I quickly jumped from my bed and ran to take a shower.

My mum, aunt, Francine and Irene, my makeup artist, were in my bedroom to help me dress into my beautiful white gown.

“Wow! You look amazing!” Irene exclaimed.

“You certainly have good taste,” my aunty commented.

“Thanks ladies.”

My dress had a v-neck that cupped up my breasts well. The lace was glittering and the gown shaped my petite body. I looked at myself in the mirror and loved the lady who was looking back at me.

Aunty Namhla brought Tasha who was dressed up in a guava pink dress. The colour was the same as my bridesmaids. I planted a warm kiss on her cheek before she was taken out of the room. Irene applied my make-up so well, that I looked like the other version of me; perfect for a photo shoot.

Our driver arrived in the limousine and Francine and my mother got into the limo with me. The limo drove swiftly, heading to the church.

The decor at church was breath-taking and everyone was seated when my dad and I walked in. He was the one walking me down the aisle. A huge smile lit up my face when I saw Danie. He looked so gorgeous in his blue suit. We exchanged our vows and kissed, following the pastor’s instructions.

After the exchanging of the rings we were headed to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens to have our photos taken.

We took almost two hours at the botanical gardens and headed to Hyde Hotel for the reception. Everything was magnificent. The table layout, my cake and seeing family and friends who were there to celebrate with me made me happy.

Among other things, I thanked and still thank God for blessing me with a man like Danie!
