I found Tina already waiting at the gate. We hugged and looked at each other for quite some time. For the first time I noticed how beautiful she really was and how much I missed her.

“Thanks for remembering me. I know I have been nothing but rude to you all the time,” she said stealing a glimpse on me as we sat down on the grass by the gate at her home.

“It’s nothing. So, where to from here?” I asked standing up.

I saw her mom by the house standing, looking at us.

“Your mom is eying us; did you tell her you’re going out?”

“Yeah she knows,” she got up and waved at her.

“Let’s start at the shop, since you brought back my appetite, I expect you to give me a treat.”

We both laughed.

“I got you. I missed you, Tina.”

“I missed you too, Mdu,” she smiled.

I bought her favourite at the shop; Vanilla yoghurt and a pack of Doritos chips. We walked out of the shop. We had no specific destination, we strolled until we found ourselves in front of the doors of a church.

There was an awkward silence in there. She opened her things and started to eat. She took a chip and deep it into the yoghurt and enjoyed herself. It was like she last ate food weeks ago.

“When was the last time you had proper food, Tina?”

“I can’t remember,” she smiled shyly.

“You’re starving yourself? Is that what you do?”

“No, I would never starve myself. I just had no appetite.”

We went quiet again. The only sound there was Tina chewing, and the arms of big wall watch turning. I just looked at her eating. I was enjoying being next to her, not realising I was actually falling in love with her.

“You enjoy staring at me like that? You realise it’s been over seven minutes?” she said.

“Really? I’m sorry if you think it’s rude. I just like being here with you.”

She looked at me with a sad face and looked down on her opened hands in her lap.

“Why do you look sad now?” I took her hands on mine.

She leaned and rested her head on my shoulder.

“I’ve been nothing but an asshole towards you Mdu. I can never forgive myself for it. I can’t help but wonder sometimes, what would have happened if I had done the right thing,” she was filled with tears in her eyes ready to flood the whole church.

“What right thing?” I tighten her even more.
