It was getting cold inside the container so Tobby walked towards the door and opened it. Suddenly he got hit by a cold, strong wind. He looked up and saw that a storm was coming. Suddenly his surroundings started shaking, boxes that cautioned “fragile” fell on him and dog cages rolled all the way down towards the door where he was clinging. The container fell to the other side and everything fell to the bottom, leaving Tobby hanging.

The sound inside the container was horrifying. The container went upright again, things got messy, there was blood all over the container as some dogs were unlucky, only one dog made it through. Tobby hit the side of his thigh and whistled, and the dog that survived came along. He opened the container and on his way out he got smacked unexpectedly on his knee by a bin that appeared from nowhere. He kept limping around the ship with so many containers sliding up and down, side to side.

The ship was starting to wreck, it was pouring with rain and the floor was slippery. Tobby was crawling alongside with the dog and mistakenly hurt his knee. He laid on the ground and the dog barked and pulled his t-shirt trying to get him off the ship. The dog was trained well to save lives. It managed to pull him next to the spot where it believed he could jump into the water. Tobby was hesitant, he couldn’t jump because the ocean had huge waves surging and hitting down hard.

The dog looked around and saw a set of protective equipment dumped in a wide box, he grabbed them with his mouth and ran back to Tobby. Some of the equipment was useful. The dog brought a few thick pieces of rope, a torn life jacket, a helmet, goggles and a dusty self-contained underwater breathing apparatus. Tobby quickly put on the life jacket, put on the helmet and took the apparatus with him.

The ship moved roughly, a container slid and hit the back of Tobby’s head. He fell off the ship right into the water and the dog jumped out, following him.

Only Tobby and the dog survived. The dog kept Tobby’s head up and paddled to keep them moving but the strong waves kept hitting them.

When the ship sank they were close to their destination on the North Sea. Tobby woke up on one of the islands in North Frisian Islands close to Hamburg in Germany, but he had no idea where he was.

A woman and a man heard a dog barking and they followed the sound which led them to the beach where Tobby was helplessly laying. They were shocked and ran towards Tobby. He had an injured knee and the bump to his head made him drowsy so he was barely able to speak.

“Hallo hallo. Ist alees gut bei dir (Hello, hello. Are you alright?)” asked a woman shaking him and touching his neck.

Tobby couldn’t talk, he was moaning and mumbling.

“Keine Sorge. Spare die dir Kraft. Du bist jetzt sicher. (Don’t worry. Save your energy. You’re safe now.)”
