It was early in the morning when Amogelang got a call from her boyfriend, Kabelo. He told her that they needed to meet later during the day. She was quite excited about meeting her boyfriend because it had been while since she saw him.

She woke up with a smile on her face and made breakfast for the whole family. It was unlike her to make breakfast, she was the lazy one in the family. The whole family was surprised to see that Amo made breakfast for them. Amo was grinning from ear to ear, she was so happy.

“Someone is in a good mood! So, Amo why are you so happy?” Her mother asked.

“I am just happy, is it a crime for someone to be happy?” she replied.

She took her school bag and headed to the bus stop to wait for the school bus. On the ride to school, she took out her cellphone and logged into Facebook to see what was the latest. There was nothing interesting so she logged out. This was going to be a long and boring ride to school, she thought to herself.

Finally, she arrived at school. Her friend, Kamogelo was waiting for her at the gate. They hugged each other. Amo started telling her friend immediately about the call she received.

“So Amo, are you going to meet him after school?” Kamo asked.

“Yeah I have to. June exams are starting soon and I won’t be able to see him for about a month,” she explained.

Kamo just nodded in disbelief. She only wanted what was best for her friend. She knew that Kabelo didn’t deserve her friend, but Amo did not seem to see that. Kabelo cheated on her twice with two different girls. And they were constantly fighting over stupid things, but still Amo could not leave the guy.

The bell rang and the two young ladies departed. Amo was doing Maths and Science while Kamo was doing the commerce stream. They rushed to different classes. All day what Amo could think about was Kabelo. She was not concentrating in class, she was just waiting for the bell to ring for lunch break. The bell finally rang and she met Kamo at their usual spot.

They ate in silence. Then Amo broke the silence when she asked Kamo what she should wear later.

“Just wear anything you want to wear, he won’t even notice even if you could go naked,” Kamo replied with no interest to talk about Amo’s “date” with Kabelo.

“Why are you always like that when I talk about Kabelo? If I didn’t know better I would say you are jealous of me,” Amo barked at Kamo.

“What! Why would I be jealous of you? Jealous of your toxic relationship with the guy who you are not even sure that he loves you. Oh please!” Kamo barked back and walked away.

Amo went back to class ten minutes before the bell rang. She couldn’t focus in class all she could think about was what Kamo said. She knew deep down that it was true. As much as she loved Kabelo, she wasn’t sure if he loved her back.
