Summer rain! Oh what a captivating season. All plants, trees and flowers were beautiful and radiating freshness. Their attractive colours satisfy every living species’ feeling. The fog was plenty around the settlement. As the time went on, the rain stopped. Art of life began, an imitation of almost-heaven. The music of life; a river flowing towards the waterfall, and birds singing for a moment, welcoming a new season. What a natural rhythm of joy.

I was in my room looking through out the window and I heard the sound of a cow in the backyard. I quickly ran downstairs to see what was going on.

“Bring the buckets for milk, Philangezwi!” shouted my mother while her and my uncle were holding a cow.

“Phuthuma mshana, hurry up,” said my uncle. I ran back in the house and took the buckets.

“Today we are going to teach you how to milk,” said my mother, and my uncle laughed.

“It’s as easy as filling water in the buckets,” said my mother. I was even scared to get closer to the cow. Every time I looked at it, goose bumps appeared on my arms and my hair got frizzy.

Finally, it was my turn to milk the cow. They even left me because I apparently was doing so well. There was something strange about this cow that I felt when I came close to it. The cow started sneezing and kicking milk buckets, and I fell down. When I stood up I saw gold dust sparkling on the ground. It scared me to a point where I couldn’t move. I was astonished.

I locked the cow in the kraal and took the rest of the filled buckets to the house. While still in shock, I took a nap trying to forget what happened. I passed out for a moment and that moment became my entire lifetime in my dream.

I opened my eyes; they were blurry and I was a little bit drowsy. “I’m ok, it’s ok,” that was me talking in sotto voce while I was panicking, thinking this was happening because I had just woken up. I ended up having a good sight. In a moment I remembered what happened in the morning, I left my room rushing to figure out what really happened. On my way out of the door, it became too bright, but I went out.
