A teacher came in at the beginning of each period as another left at the end of the last one. And finally the bell rang once more, indicating the end of school. There was a rumble throughout the corridors of the school. Pule and Mpendulo were on their way home too, they were supposed to have remained for an afternoon class.

“You know they are going to beat us up tomorrow for bunking this afternoon right?” criticised Mpendulo.

“Ja, eish… And it is definitely going to be Mr Buthelezi with his iron hand.”

“Why don’t we just go back?” Mpendulo suggested but Pule didn’t barge.

“You can go back if you want to, mina I have serious stuff to worry about,” he said.

“Mxm, what serious stuff?”

“Did I tell you about the dream I had?”

“Which one?”

“What do you mean which one?”

“I mean you dream every night.”

There was a pause, then Pule replied, “Ja, it shows that I am normal, but that’s not the point. What I am trying to tell you is that it was unlike all the other dreams that I usually have.”

“Tell me what’s special about this one?”

There began the glowing eyes and the shimmering smile.

“It was about Andile.”

Mpendulo burst into a wild crack as if Pule’s pants and underwear just fell off in front of a lot of people.

“What’s so funny?”

“When are you going to stop talking and dreaming about her and start talking to her?”

“I am going to stop telling you stuff because you exaggerate; I never said I’ve dreamt about her before.”

“You realise you are not the only one after her right?”

“Cut me some slack ndoda, this is not easy for me, she’s not just an ordinary girl.”

“Tell me about the dream.”

His face began to glow again. “Well, where do I start?”

Before they could grasp it, they were already through the bridge, turning to the left towards extension 4. As they ascended and descended the slopes in the outskirts, a mob of Protea Glen Secondary students emerged through the corner of the first street into Protea Glen extension 4. They were shouting in what seemed like excitement, only it was excitement that made them scream. It was only the talk of Good Kush that could give the youth so many goose bumps.

“But last year they played us for fools,” they heard one boy say.

“They said Okmalumkoolkat was coming but he was a no show.”

“Good Kush does that all the time. In 2015 Pro Kid was supposed to have come but he didn’t, I wouldn’t be surprised if Casper Nyovest doesn’t show up tomorrow.” They heard another say.

“And this time we need to be early gents, so we can secure a nice cosy spot for ourselves, just in case he does show up.” Another boy said and they all agreed.
