***The Beginning***

A certain man, called Chris, had a family problem with his wife, so he decided to chase her away. But, before chasing her away, he called his father, and they met.

“Father,” Chris said. “I am tired with this woman. She is headstrong, so now we are divorcing. I called you so you could inform me about what we should do next. We are going to share everything in this house, and then she will go.”

“Thank you, my beloved son,” the father responded. “I think I have experienced this kind of thing before. Let me tell you my story about how I married your mother and what happened after.”

***Never Lose Hope***

My name is Jack, and I was born in a certain village named Chikondi. After completing my secondary school there, I decided to go and learn in town. After arriving in town, I joined a university and started learning accountancy. Four years later, I completed my studies and started planning to both look for a woman I would marry and look for a job.

I first applied for a job as a paymaster in Socobat, but by mischance, I they did not take me. I then wrote many job applications, but nothing changed. One day, I received a call and then took the phone of the hook to answer it.

“Hello,” I said.

“Yes, hello,” a voice responded. “We are an airline company. We received your job application, and we are calling to inform you that you will be interviewed today at 12h00.”

“Oh, I think it is going to be the same thing as before,” I thought to myself after hanging up the call. “Am I going to spend my freight charges for nothing like before?”

After a while, I prepared myself to go to the interview, and then went. When I arrived at the company, I went straight into the interview. With the help of God, they hired me as a paymaster. After some months, I took the money that I had been saving, bought a plot with it, and built a house. After that, I was no longer a lodger.

When I was finished building my house, I began executing my second plan, which was looking for a woman I would marry. I found myself some women who were trying to make a pass at me, but I decided not marrying them. One day, I made up my mind and decided to meet Agogo, an old man who lived in the city where I lived.

“Good evening Agogo,” I said when I reached him.

“Yes, how are you Jack?” he responded. “Come and sit.”

“Ok thanks,” I said.

While we were sitting there, we spoke about this-and-that, and we were screaming with laughter. He and I really had a great time together.

“Agogo,” I said after a while. “I would like to ask you a question.”

“Go on, Jack,” he responded.

“I am intending to get married, but I am a little bit confused about choosing a bride,” I said.

“Jack,” he began. “Choose a wife based on her heart and the way she behaves, not just because of her face and appearance. I have seen a man choosing a woman because of her sweet talk, figure, and her style, and once that woman got two children, he hit her and chased her away.” He then paused. “Another integral part when choosing a bride is money,” he continued. “My grandson never chose a wife just because of money. She was self-made, and she had this and that. Jack, money has never made welfare in a marriage. You get money from her, but she does not respect you. You will never have anything to tell her because she will never listen to you. You will be like a sissy, and do you think you will be happy one day if that happens?”

“No Agogo,” I responded.

“Furthermore,” he continued. “If she is a ‘good-lookie’, meaning a good looking woman, then she will always dress in expensive clothes. Never become attracted by that. Such things will not make you happy. Choose a bride that is devoted to you; one who, in certain circumstances, will be respectful to you and look up to you. Morals and values are more important than sweet talks, charm, good looks, and money.”
