Slowly Mpilwenhle healed, he finally got over his ex. He felt free, fresh and on top of the world again, like some kind of a burden had been removed on his shoulders. He decided to give love a second chance.

“Eish hi, Lizzy I’d like to speak to you for a second.”

”Jerk!” defended Nosihle. She was angry at Mpilwenhle too and plus yena vele she always hated him.

“Friend ngiyeke mina ngimshaye lo-Guy (Allow me to beat this guy up),” Nosihle continued with anger.

Mpilwenhle also felt like he deserved to be beaten. Sethu had warned him, “Ei bro, don’t go up there; they’ll kill you. Nothing is as dangerous as an angry heartbroken black women. You might as well just say your goodbyes ‘coz you’d be lucky if you came back alive,” Sethu had laughed.

Well jokes aside, it really took Mpilwenhle a whole lot of courage to go up there.

“I have nothing to talk to you about Mpilo, please just leave me alone,” Lizzy replied.

“Look I know I messed up, big time! So I want to fix it. All I’m asking is two minutes,” Mpilwenhle said.

“Didn’t you hear what she just said? Leave her alone,” Nosihle continued defensively.

“It’s okay friend, let me hear what he has to say,” Lizzy calmly said.

“Ngikubhekile (I’m watching you),” Nosihle threatened while pointing at Mpilwenhle with her index finger.

“Thank you. Uhm… look I’m really sorry about what happened between us. It’s just that the past few months I haven’t been myself. I was still in pain caused by my ex, so my wounds were still bleeding and kind of bled on you. I’m sorry for that. But now I can assure you I’m free and I know what I will be doing. If there’s a way for me to fix this please tell me. I still want you. You’re a cool, kind, and beautiful girl, so many qualities; the list is endless. I shouldn’t have compared you to my ex. I’m really sorry, please forgive me and give us a second shot, please,” Mpilwenhle begged.

“Look, you cannot just come here and expect me to forgive you, but I appreciate your apology, really. I guess nami I should never have thrown myself at you; I should have listened to you first, ask you how you really felt about us dating.”

“Yeah you kinda threw yourself right?” Mpilwenhle joked and Lizzy just cracked in laughter.

“I still need time Mpilo.”

“That’s okay. Girl you know for you I would wait all my life. I have all the time in the world and right now? Let me check, it’s 16:34,” Mpilwenhle joked again and this time Lizzy laughed louder.

Lizzy leaned towards Mpilwenhle, she took in his scent, he smelt good. It had been a while since she laughed like that, since her and Mpilwenhle were together. Lizzy realised she missed Mpilwenhle too.

“Okay bhuti, I’ll see you on Thursday, I’m doing some chores tomorrow.”

“That’s okay sweetie, I’ll be waiting for you at S&M Ice Creams.”

Lizzy laughed, “There you go bribing me with an ice cream again, I’ll see you there then Punkie.”

They both said their goodbyes and there they were Thursday evening having the best time of their lives. It took a lot out of Mpilwenhle to love again, it’s a good thing. Nosihle threatens him everyday, “If you dare hurt my friend I’ll kill you!” she would say.
