The enemy descends on them with so much preponderance at a scale of 30:1. The Vikaz carry much of the load of the fight with their superior fighting prowess and battle strategy, but they get overwhelmed and hang by a thread. King Hintsa knows the only way to win this fight is to defeat Fries. He flies through the defence of the enemy and engages with Fries directly. Prince Stoki arrives on the horizon of the northern hills with a large battalion of Emperor Ice’s second army. Their numbers even the scales but the horses tip the scale in their favour. They rally an attack and begin to overrun the enemy. Fries is initially surprised, but soon composes himself.

While he is losing, he cross examines King Hintsa: “Why do you fight in this doomed cause for such a fragile thing as love?”

King Hintsa replies, “I fight for love because it is beautiful, it is pure, love is kind, love is a beacon of light, a universal prospect that has the divine power to unify entities from various aspects of life. Love has the power to transcend hate, love does not discriminate against colour, religious affiliation, gender, nationality and sexual orientation. Love is the most potent weapon to quell evil thoughts that may crystallise into evil deeds in their rudimentary phase. Love is not one dimensional, love is infinite and omnipresent.”

Fries chuckles, “You are naive! We too were a love infested tribe like you once, so love sick, like mindless puppies that we had waved our own birth right to rule and govern ourselves.”

Fries proceedes to divulge that many years ago Candy Bread Land was ruled under two autonomous kingdoms, one by Ice and the other by Flour, a notion that sought to unify the two lands was promulgated by the Erudite council. It was proposed that a hunting game for a blue buck would be played by the two kings with the victor elected as paramount king and loser stripped of his epithets and rule of his land and people. Ice won the hunting expedition, was enthroned and decreed absolute ruler of the two lands. With that result their people were relegated into second class citizens in their own land. They were required to make annual offerings to the palace of Ice and had to undergo a series of servitudes to finally integrate in the capital city to make a fortune.

Fries says, “My ancestors were tricked by the Erudite. This planted resentment in my heart. Love has never been kind to my people. Hate grants me sustenance, hate is justice to the crimes of the council. Hate inspires fears, hate brings chaos and darkness. Don’t you know that hate is absolute vengeance for my people?”

King Hintsa swings his shield so hard that it collides with the jaw of Fries, the impact setting him on the ground in an instant. Fries wakes up realising that his army is on the verge of defeat. He initiates his trump card.

With his command over the darkness, Fries summons the power of all the dead souls a trillion boost, this expands his power exponentially, he is virtually omnipotent. King Hintsa’s attacks are now inadequate against the terrifying power of Fries. At this moment Fries begins to mock and taunt King Hintsa.

Fries sets his sight on Princess Damas in an effort to show King Hintsa that love is weak and pathetic. He punches her in the jaw, not so hard to kill her but enough to cause grievous bodily harm and incapacitate her. She begins to bleed profusely while lying unconscious. This enrages King Hintsa, he summons lighting and fire from the sword of truth and channells and concentrates it in the centre of the shield of courage. The blast absorbs the indestructible force of the shield and fires it straight to Fries.

Fries dodges this lightning inferno blast and it disappeares into a portal King Hintsa had created earlier. King Hintsa fires another blast only for Fries to take it head on without any damage.

King Veccaro rushes in an effort to resuscitate his daughter and shouts to King Hintsa, “Do not be a slave to rage. Remember your training in the World within Worlds!”
