The family was later informed about the court hearing date. The look on Kimberly’s mother’s face said it all; that something crazy was going to happen. The case was being handled by judge Paul Peters, who was a famous judge in SA, and had had bigger cases in his hands before. He knew almost everything on how to handle these kinds of cases, where rich people use money to defend themselves. But Kimberly’s mother was not like that at all. She just picked up the phone and called the judge.

“Hello, is this Judge Paul Peter?” she said on the phone

“Yes, it is,” Judge Paul answered.

“Let me warn you, if you send my child to jail I swear with everything I have, I will destroy you that you can even kiss your career goodbye.” Judge Paul said nothing; he just hung up the phone.

The day of the court hearing, Kimberly’s mom hadn’t slept the whole night; she kept on thinking and couldn’t find the right answers. Everything was a mess that no one could fix. While she was in the shower she kept on asking herself, “When will things get better?”

She was sitting there at breakfast but her mind was not there at all. When she was told that it was time to go to court she freaked out and even broke a glass of wine. The helper said, “Sorry madam, I will fix everything.”

There was so much pride in the court house; cameras were everywhere waiting for the news.

Kimberly and her friends entered the court room. Judge Paul said, “I find all of you guilty of using drugs in public, and I sentence you eight years in prison!”

It was all said and done. Days later, Mr. President received the best news that he had won the elections and the South African citizens thought he was the man for the chair, but not good news to Kimberly’s mom.

The End
