Javier
“Have you seen Likumbi?” I asked.
“I haven’t seen him today. He didn’t even come to school today,” she responded.
I was exhausted, but mostly scared. I was scared that I might never see Likumbi. Just then, Ken and Roxy came running towards me.
“Do you have any news?” I eagerly asked.
“No, even the librarian has not seen him,” Roxy responded.
“I did not find him neither,” Ken added, sounding tense. “Most of his classmates do not know where he is, and they seem to be unconcerned.”
“Do you know where he could have gone?” I asked.
“Well, we thought he might me at your place, but he wasn’t,” Roxy responded. “Aside from your place, we don’t know where he could have gone.”
“I think we should report him missing to the police,” Ken said.
“No Ken, we do not want to alarm the situation,” Roxy responded. “Mum and Dad will soon find out, and we don’t want that.”
“So, what are you suggesting we do?” Ken asked.
“We should find him, and if need be, rescue him ourselves,” Roxy responded.
The moment Roxy said that, I nodded vigorously in agreement. Later that day, at nightfall, we all began the search. We retraced his steps until we found one of his headsets lying there. I then picked it up and put it in my pocket. When Ken tried calling him, I heard something vibrating in the dirt, and it was Likumbi’s phone.
“He must have been kidnapped for sure,” I said, wiping my brow, and Roxy shuddered at hearing the words.
“Let’s carry on you guys. We won’t find him if we just stand here all night,” Ken said, sounding somewhat angry.
