Likumbi
A while later, it was time for us to leave the detention zone, so we all collected our stuff and started heading home. I did not want the magical moment between Javier and I to end, so I asked him if I could stay at his place for a while. It was not far off from school, just a three streets away.
When we arrived at Javier’s place, no one was home yet, and it was just plain empty.
“Come in, my aunt won’t be home by now,” Javier said, and I walked in.
The place was small and tidy. Javier directed me to his room, and oh my, what a beautiful place it was. There were swirls of green on the carpet, and posters of his favourite band on the wall.
“Sit here,” he said, tapping on his bed. “I’ll be back in a few seconds. I just have to freshen up.”
I sat down and gazed at almost everything. A smile spread on my face, and I widened my eyes. His room was just perfect. After a while, Javier walked back into the room wearing a white vest and a pair of very short shorts, exposing his hairy legs. We talked for hours and hours, until I realised that it was getting late. I really did not want to leave, though. Not that day, not the next one, not ever, but I had no choice, I had to leave. Everyone back home would be worried sick.
“Javier, I have to go,” I said sadly.
“Well, would you like me to walk you home?” he asked.
“Yes, that’d be lovely,” I responded.
With that, Javier changed into some sweat pants and we walked home together. We passed the little restaurant and the little gap in the railings. I started moving closer to him, and he started moving closer to me too. By the time we were arriving at my place, the moon was already out and shining.
“Bye,” I said, and then I smiled and winked.
Javier waved, and his tan skin was by that time a rosy shade. He then turned back and started walking back to his place. I stole a few glances at him before walking up the stairs to open the door, but before I could, Roxy opened it for me.
“Hash tag Likumbi wedding!” Roxy yelled while jumping up and down.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I said, lying, and then I hid my face behind my hands and tried to walk away from her.
“Hold on, do you think I’m blind? I was at the window, and I heard everything! Now, give me the details,” Roxy said now overexcited.
“Fine, I’ll tell you,” I responded.
“We have some chatting to do,” Roxy said, and then she dragged me to her room.
Upon arriving, we immediately sat down. Roxy then took out some Oreos from underneath her bed (that was her secret snack stash), she handed me one, and we began talking like crazy. We could not help it but laugh, giggle, and hold each other’s hands.
“Let’s talk about his body,” Roxy, the spicy and feisty, said.
“No way, I don’t want to,” I responded, blushing.
“Just tell me, you know you want to,” Roxy whispered with a naughty wink.
I could not resist the temptation, so I told her. “Okay, listen. He has biceps and triceps I did not know exist,” I began. “And his hairy legs are to die for! If I touch his hand one more time, I tell you, I will let go. He is hot like he has a high temperature.”
At that moment, we both began laughing our lungs out, and I almost swallowed an Oreo without chewing it. We were so gleeful!
