Ashley walked into his house, back from work. He just threw himself on the sofa. He sighed deeply, sounding exhausted.

“Nkele baby, I’m back,” he called out loud as usual.

He expected a fight with her as she always complained about everything. Five minutes later there was still no sign of Nkele.

“Nkele, I said I’m back. Plug the kettle I want to wash.”

He stood up. Before he could leave the living room, he saw a letter wrapped in a gold string. He took it outside. “Ashley” it read.

“Ashley, it’s me. I wrote you this letter to tell you, I’m done. I’ve found someone better. Don’t look for me, I don’t want you anymore. Goodbye and good luck.”

Ashley tried to call her, but it went straight to voicemail.

The next day in the morning Damon came to Ashley’s house.

“Ey, bra I saw your message. What happened bra?” Damon asked in shock.

“This happened,” Ashley showed him a letter. Damon read it.

“Just like that, 7 years of marriage,” Ashley said. “Day, it’s over, she left me.”

“I’m sorry Ash,” said Damon.

“Let me freshen up, so we can go.” Ashley said as he stood up and went to the bathroom.

Later, Ashley and Damon were at the bar. Ashley took only a few minutes to complete a drink. One after another.

“Ash, you’ve got to slow down. You won’t be able to drive in that state,” said Damon.

“Day, allow me to drown my sorrow. I deserve it man” he laughed. “Every woman in my life has walked out on me. My mother ran from me, now Nkele. All women are the same.”

“Man, Nkele was wrong to walk out on you like this. You are a good guy Ashley,” Damon said, trying to comfort him.

“I’m good, but not good enough. Damon, women are never satisfied with anything,” Ashly said as he gulped a drink”She complained about me working late, not spending time with her. When I spent time with her she complained about money.”

He looked at some girls nearby. Damon stared too.

“Why are looking at those girls like that?” Damon asked curiously.

“Day, I don’t feel like going home alone at all. I have to take one home,” Ashley said as he stood up.

Damon stood to stop him. “Ash, you are hurt. Let’s go home.”

“I’m begging you Day, help a guy out,” said Ashley

They walked towards the girls. Ashley was struggling to keep on his feet and he bumped into the girls’s table.

“What’s wrong with you?” said one girl.

“Forgive my friend, he is not himself,” said Damon.

“I’m just a guy with a broken heart,” said Ashley. “Ladies can we join you please”.

“Only if you buy us drinks. Then you can join maybe we can find a cure to your heart,” said another girl.

“That’s what I want to hear. I’m Ashley and my friend is Demon,” He mispronounced.

“Damon, he means,” Damon corrected him.

The girls laughed, “I’m Mpumi and my friend is Ntombi.”

“We going to have fun, ladies,” Ashley said as he put his arms around Mpumi.
