When I went to school the next day, John and George came to where I was seated.

“Hey Peter! Are you going to pay for the school trip?” George asked me with a big smile on his face.

Then I looked in their eyes with a sad face.

“Sorry to tell you guys this, but my parents say that they don’t have money to pay for the school trip. And I guess I just wish you a good luck guys.”

They looked into each other’s eyes and turned their faces down.

“Sorry buddy that you’re not going to make it, we really wanted you to be with us. Had it been that I had enough money, I was going to pay for you,” John said.

Since I really wanted to go, I thought of a better way on how I can collect some money for the school trip. I thought of going to see my grandparents after knocking off from school.

“My grandson, this is a surprise to see you here! What brings you here at this point in time instead of going home to rest?” My grandma asked.

“It is just that I need some money to go on a school trip with my friends at school. Our head teacher has organised a school trip for us to go to the lake,” I answered.

“You mean you are going to see Lake Malawi?” She asked.

“Yes, grandma. We are going to appreciate the beauty of Lake Malawi but the problem is that my mom and dad said they don’t have money. And I thought of coming to you to ask for it.” I answered.

“Don’t worry, I have MK 2000 with me that I got after selling sugarcanes and tomatoes, I will give it to you,” she replied.

Then I smiled as if I had won a medal.

“Just go inside the house and check on the table in the sitting room, it is there.”

Without wasting much of my time, I went inside the house and collected the money. With a smile well covered on my face, I thanked my grandma and went home. When I reached home, I told my parents about it but since they did not want me to go to the school trip. They just smiled for a short time and said grandma was a good person.
