Sphe and I came across four women that we knew from back in college, though I wasn’t too familiar with one of them. The ladies seemed nice and welcoming and offered us a seat at their table. One of the ladies who went by the name of Linda didn’t seem as welcoming towards me, for some reason. Now, I didn’t recall where exactly I knew her from, but her face certainly looked familiar. I brushed it off. I thought these ladies might have known each other during my final year, when I met Chris, because I became antisocial when he came into my life.
It was 2am and I had finished a bottle of Hennessy and a few shots with Sphe and the ladies. They were just my type: independent, fun, gorgeous and kind hearted, but the type of bitches you’d never interfere or mess with. I don’t remember the last time I had that much fun with ladies.
Linda was the only sober one in the group so she drove us to my house using my car, as I had said they could spend the night. My house was big enough to accommodate all of them and I was happy to have them over. The ladies used a cab to get to the club and Sphe said he would check up on us later in the day, and headed back to his place. It seemed as if he was certain that we had plenty of time to catch up properly, however, at that time I didn’t know whether he was back in Durban for good or if he was back for a visit. I somehow didn’t connect well with Linda but that didn’t bug me one bit as I was excited and happy after a long time of being emotionally drained. We arrived home and Linda changed her mind about spending the night at the last minute.
Something about Linda didn’t sit right with me but hey, I couldn’t be judging someone I barely knew now, could I? I managed to convince her to spend the night on her condition that she left first thing in the morning.
Chris woke up early and called for me. I usually woke up before him to make him breakfast but this time I was just way too hungover. But he didn’t know we had company, nor did he know that I was hungover. I ran to the kitchen as fast as I could when he started not only calling for me but yelling for me to make him breakfast. I tried chopping up a fruit salad but h commanded me to make him something more serious and never to patronise him like that ever again.
I still can’t get over the look on his face when he saw a bunch of hungover ladies in our house. I proceeded to introduce them to him with what I knew about them. He couldn’t stop looking at Linda but I wasn’t concerned, I mean, it must have been the fact that she didn’t look close to as hungover as we were.
They had mentioned that they were all married to their college boyfriends and their men didn’t mind their lifestyle of partying, which put me at ease in a way. One of the ladies came up with the idea of all of us going shopping and inviting their husbands over to lunch. I knew Chris had a tendency of being his mean self around visitors but to my surprise he made an exception to the ladies’ suggestion.
Tell us: Who do you think Linda is?
