After three months of a great relationship Sphe asked me to come over to his place for the weekend and so I did. We spent time together laughing and acting crazy like we usually did. I played games and sashisa inyama (we braaied meat) because it was a Friday after all. He drank his beer and I had my wine while we watched movies on TV. It was nice.
I decided to put on heels and started dancing and making twerk videos because that was my thing, especially when I was tipsy.
I couldn’t stop laughing when he decided to twerk with me. We had a twerk contest and asked our Instagram followers to vote for their favorite twerker. Of course, I won, but it was just funny, especially when he put his foot on the wall and twerked his heart out. Sphe really did know how to make me laugh.
“I want some more wine,” I said laughing.
Sphe held me by my hand and said in a serious tone, “I want to talk to you about something.”
“Lebo, ngiyakuthanda! Ngenhliziyo yami yonke (Lebo, I love you! With all my heart) and I hope you know that,” he said.
I melted and my eyes smiled but my heart was happier than my eyes could’ve portrayed.
“Lebo, do you love me?” he asked, looking straight into my eyes.
“I do, Sphe,” I said with tears running down my face.
He went down on his knees and said, “Then make me the happiest man alive and…” before he could finish his request I remember screaming my lungs out and running around the house jumping for joy. He laughed at me and placed his index finger and thumb in the inner corner of his eyes.
“You know I almost forgot how loud you can be, shame, marry me, baby.”
I jumped onto him and yelled, “Yes!”
I kissed his forehead for loving me despite everything. I couldn’t help but cry as he pushed the diamond ring onto my finger.
Sphe and I live in a bigger house in Sandton and we have two kids now. He is an amazing father to my son, and my daughter is such a spoilt daddy’s princess. I now know what true love is and you can find it if you just open your heart, mind and soul and let God lead the way.
