Ncedo’s eyes were filled with tears as he thought of her siblings Eli (6), Amanda (4), and his one-year-old daughter, Lisa. Ncedo met Akhona, his girlfriend, five years ago, and they had a child four years later. Then, the new chapter of his life began. The death of his parents cost him his life; it cost him big time.
Relatives closed their doors to Ncedo the day his parents got buried. After that, he had to look after Eli, Amanda, and his daughter all alone. On the other hand, Akhona’s father, John, worked as a carpenter, while her mother, Mary, was a domestic worker. The money they received every month was not enough to cover all their household’s needs. Therefore, they decided based on Lisa, and Ncedo had to send money to look after his daughter’s needs, while they also helped from their side.
Ncedo had nowhere to go after that, and he often brought sorrow, sadness, tears, and memories whenever he was inside the house. On that day, he decided to go out and get some fresh air. On his way out, his mind went-off, thinking about his situation that had no solution and asking himself questions with no answers. After a while, he found himself wondering about at the cemetery where his parents were buried.
Ncedo’s parents were buried next to each other because of the love they had for each other, and the bond they had had with each other and could never be separated even by death. Once he reached their gravesite, he bowed down before them and threw the situation before their faces. He was looking for answers, but in the end, he got nothing. After a while, tears began flowing down his cheek, and he fell before his parents’ word-less graves, hoping for a solution.
It was so sad that the parents he used to talk to whenever he was down and out were now word-less; that they were now a corpses.
“Go, son. Go back home, your siblings need you,” his imaginary father’s voice said to his ears after a while. And after hearing the voice, Ncedo immediately stood up and went off. He wiped off the tears from his face because he did not want to alert anyone about his downfall.
