Hours later, Jenine emerges from the bathroom wearing a transparent, sleeve-less nightdress that hung from her body with no underwear underneath. Her goldish hair is wet, and her glistening, almond green eyes are piercing. She then sits down near me.

“Are you alright?” I ask.

Before responding, she looks at me. “Sometimes you ask such stupid questions, Adam,” she responds, sighs, and then takes a huge bite of the steak.

I remain quiet for a while. “I waited for you last night,” I finally say.

“I could not come yet,” she respond.

I nod in response. “Will you ever stay?” I ask.

“How can you want me to stay when … you know,” she responds, and then looks away from me.

“I do not care about that,” I say.

“You are only saying that now,” she responds, shrugging.

“I love you,” I shout.

“Look at me, Adam! I am a monster,” she says, and then looks at the Daily newspaper that is on the table.

“Killer Beast Is At It Again! Another Male Found Dead Near Cameroon High.” The headlines read.

She then looks up at me. “What are you doing reading that?” she asks. I do not respond, so she stands up and pushes her plate aside and comes towards me. I stand up too, but she holds my face and smiles. ‘”Do you want to know why I’m still here?” she asks, and I nod in response. “Because, you are my reminder,” she says.

“Reminder?” I ask.

“My human side reminder,” she responds, and then kisses my lips slowly and, in a few minutes, we are in my bedroom.

Tell us: Would you stay with someone who is a monster only because you love them?
