As always Faith’s mother had a new boyfriend but this time it was different. Doris left Faith for two full weeks. She didn’t say where she was going or when she would come back.
Eventually when she came back she found Faith at home alone. The house was clean and empty. She came with her boyfriend and Faith had to pretend to be happy for her mother.
One day Doris came to fetch all her clothes, saying she was moving in with her new boyfriend. Faith couldn’t believe that her mom chose a stranger over her own child; her own blood and flesh. She had to spend twelve months alone. Her mother didn’t care about her safety, her well-being or her happiness.
Faith just kept quiet she accepted the choice her mother made. Her mother came to buy food and visit her once a month. Few months later she was surprised to hear that her mom was pregnant. She didn’t know how to handle the news but one thing she knew for sure was that her mother did not care about her.
Faith then decided to do what she wanted to do a long ago; move in with her dad. She told her mom that she was going to move in with her dad but her mom did not approve. Then Faith reminded her that when she, Doris, came to take her clothes to live with her new boyfriend, she didn’t consider how Faith felt.
Faith was now happy with her dad. She felt safe, loved, and her life was now perfect.
