When Carol asked for money for her fees from her father, he told her that there was no money for her fees because Harmony was failing dismally. Because of that, she had to stay home, and when she became very sad, she went back to her former high school and volunteered to help them with whatever they struggled with.

After volunteering at the school for a while, Carol finally had a conversation with Promise. She talked about her sister, and how she had ruined her chances of going to school because of playfulness. But, as flabbergasted as Promise was at hearing the stories, he opted to remain calm and listen.

The conversation between Carol and Promise became heated when Carol mentioned that Harmony had been treating her like an outcast, and that was when Promise saw that Harmony was cruel, even to her only sister. He opened up to Carol about the incident he had had with Harmony at university, and when he did, Carol could not believe her ears. She couldn’t wait to get home and tell her parents about her sister’s filthy actions.

Whenever Carol or Harmony said anything to their parents, their mother always remained mute because everything her husband said was final. So, when Carol got home and told her parents the story that Promise had told her, she was expecting her father to see the truth, but that was not the case. Instead, he kicked her out for lying about her sister. He didn’t even bother asking Harmony about it, and her mother could not do anything about it.

After Carol was kicked out of her home, Promise was supposed to take her in because he was the reason she had been kicked out. He eventually did take her in, and they lived together with Promise’s single mother. While they were living together, Carol always listened attentively to Promise whenever he opened up to her, and because of that, Promise fell in love with his perpetrator’s sister.

Harmony’s father passed on shortly after kicking Carol out of his house, and when they were called for the reading of his will, they found that Harmony had received 100% of the things her father had owned. Carol was confused by it, but she was the only one in the dark about the truth. Harmony told Carol the truth, and she told her to kindly stay where she currently was because only their mother was supposed to stay in their house.

After receiving her inheritance from her father, Harmony became a thousand times richer. She drove expensive cars, ate in expensive restaurants, and dropped out of university. Different men drove her cars, though. She was just out there, and her mother soon moved out because she disrespected her.

Carol, on the other hand, cried herself to sleep every single night.

When Promise saw Carol the way she was, he advised her to apply for bursaries, and he did too. They then both went to university, made a life for themselves, and later became the Romeo and Juliet of the century. Life treated them kind, but things started getting tough on the other side. Promise opened a case of rape against Harmony, and when nothing was done, he continued with his life.

After a while, Harmony stopped being the rich girl, and everyone talked about. Her father’s companies closed down, and when she could no longer pay for the cars, they got repossessed. When all that happened, she could not believe what was happening. Her ex had married her sister, and when she crumbled under the stress, she ended up going crazy. No one wanted a mad woman, so she was left with no one, and soon after that, she slept with every Tom, Dick and Harry, in order to put food on the table.

In the end, Carol, who was the outcast, had to go through the night to see the day.
