“I have to get going,” I said even though my feet felt the opposite.

“Okay, I enjoyed your company,” said Richard.

I smiled, pleased with myself. “Yeah… I did too”

I was welcomed with Beth who looked pissed. No doubt she was there the whole time I was in the car with Richard.

“Wow… who was that guy?”

“Rich,” I stated and looked directly in her eyes.

“Given him nicknames already have we?”

What was with her honestly?

“And your point?”

She didn’t say anything and went inside.

I followed her. She at least owed me an explanation. I put my suitcase and bag in my room and went and sat where she was sitting on the couch.

“So what’s with the attitude?”

“I heard what you did to Zach.”

What did I do? Escape embarrassment? I looked at her to continue and she did.

“He said you cheated on him and he caught you red handed in your car and you sped off because you didn’t want him to interrogate you in anyway.”

I couldn’t compose words. Beth didn’t stop there though.

“And now you come back in a car I haven’t seen before, what should I make of it?”

“Zach said all that?” That was my only concern.

“Yeah, he called two hours ago.”

“He cheated on me and told you I was the cheater? He has the nerve to lie.”

She looked at me and I knew she had a lot to ask but she didn’t.

“And you believed him?” I asked her.

She shrugged but I was done worrying over him. He just showed me how bad he can be and I didn’t plan on getting back together with him.

I kept thinking of several ways of ‘how to kill a person who pissed you off’ although I knew I wouldn’t really kill a person. I explained what really happened and told her I saw the cheating issue coming, I just couldn’t get myself to accept it.

I remembered once Zach said we were falling apart and that he started to lose feelings. I laughed about it, but if it was true then why was I blaming him for moving on?

I was so tired that I fell asleep immediately when my head hit the pillow. I dreamt of the blue eyes that claimed to know me when I only knew him as a successful young billionaire.

I woke up with a jolt as my alarm started ringing. As much as I hated mornings I had to wake up to go to work. I groaned heavily and started preparing myself for work. I wore a decent pair of black trousers with a peach shirt and a black leather jacket. Beth was still asleep so I just brewed coffee and made some pancakes. I left for work before her as she would go to work when she wanted since she worked for her dad.

Five hours into my work my phone dinged. The screen showed a new number and I immediately opened it. I knew it was from the blue eyed Richard. I smiled widely before answering.

Richard: It’s Rich, how about lunch?
Me: Sure what time?
Richard: 12:15 okay?
Me: See you then

How could I stop smiling when I would be lunching out with a really cute guy? I dived back to work almost forgetting I had a date, balancing all sales and all the inputs and everything else.

I raised my head with the knock that brought me out of my daydream. Oh my gosh the lunch date. I watched Richard enter my office. I looked at the time, it was already 12:30pm. How could I have been engrossed in my work? And what do I say?
