When they arrived at Peter’s house, there was no one, especially not his parents. This gave them more privacy to have sex. When Roxanne told Peter to put a condom on, Peter got angry and rejected this by asking: “How can you not trust me? Do you love me?”

His words left Roxanne no option but to carry on without a condom, because she loved him.

After a month, Roxanne began to vomit like never before. She was worried about herself until one of her friends, Nelli, told her she needed to go to the clinic for a check-up. Maybe she might be pregnant, Nelli suggested. Roxanne didn’t want to believe what her friend said to her. She thought maybe Nelli was cursing her until she really went to the clinic and found out that she really was pregnant. Roxanne was terrified. She couldn’t think properly. At her home, she began to over-think.

“What am I going to do with a baby? I am only 16, and my mother will kill me if she finds out. I am still in school; I can’t drop out. What about my future?”

Roxanne asked herself all kinds of questions, and, at the end of her thoughts, she was still willing to keep Peter’s baby. But she first wanted to tell Peter about this to see how he’d react. At school, Roxanne and Peter met at their usual spot. Roxanne told Peter about her pregnancy, but Peter just listened and left. Roxanne was very hurt, asking herself what kind of human Peter was.

Peter was acting as if he’d done nothing wrong. He just showed early signs that if Roxanne were to keep the baby, he would show no interest. Roxanne decided to spare herself from the pain he was causing her and have an illegal abortion.

Because having an abortion was hard on Roxanne, and it was her first time, she began thinking of all the positives it would bring her, including her future. So she decided to go through with the abortion. It was successful and she got her life back, but she had to do one more thing to secure it even more: tell Peter it was over. She called him and told him he was a punk and that she didn’t ever want to see him again.

Roxanne returned to her normal life with her friends.
