“Hey girlfriends, I would like you to meet my new friend, Zizipho she’s the new girl,” Ziyanda introduced me to her friends at school the following Monday.
“Oh hey girl nice to meet you,” the three girls said together.
“Yeah, welcome to our friendship. You are more than welcome to be part of it,” another one said.
“Oh thank you very much and nice to meet y’all too,”
Just as Ziyanda was introducing me to her friends some guy called her and she told me to go along with her.
“I’ve missed you big time Ziyanda,” said the guy hugging her. “You are making me suffer by refusing to give me your number.”
“Ncoooh man you’ll be strong, just hold on right there. Oh Simon meet my new friend, Zizipho,”
“Oh, hey Zizipho. You are lucky to have a beautiful friend,” Simon said.
After that he said he had to go meet some friends.
“Is that your boyfriend?” I asked curiously when he left.
“Who, him? No! He’s asking me out,”
“Then why don’t you date him, I mean his cute?”
“Oh please, there are many guys who are asking me out, who are way hotter and more successful than him. He has a crumping group called The Benshe swag,”
“The Benshe swag! What a name…”
“Ja if you don’t know the background of that name you’ll think it sucks… They are sponsored by Ben Sheman they receive free clothes every month,”
“Wow that’s cool. What about the guy who picked us up this morning?”
“Oh, that’s Bryce. He’s a super model and he’s also asking me out. He made an agreement with my dad that he’ll drive me to school every day, just to please me. pssht, Some other guys try so hard. He buys me gifts every time we meet,”
“Oh, why don’t you date him for goodness sake, can’t you see the dude is trying so hard,” I said feeling sympathy for Bryce.
“No ways. He’s old and he’s not my type. There is another cute guy who lives not far from your house. His name is Sipho and he is a mechanic. His father owns a company called the Fam Mechanical Company. He always fixes things for us for free just because he has a crush on me,”
“Come on, that’s wrong,”
“Yeah I know. My mom doesn’t mind paying, but not as much as she doesn’t mind not paying at all.”
“If he’s also not your type then what is your type?”
“You know, let me tell you something Zizipho, there are two types of guys in Sandton: the Chasers and the Spenders. The Chasers are the ones who won’t give up asking you out, they are the ones who keep bugging. And the Spenders are the ones who will spend all the money on you just to have you as their girlfriend. So if you don’t watch out you’ll find yourself falling for wrong guys. And oh hey, they are two types of friends as well, the real friends and the frenemies,”
“What are Frenemies then?” I asked realising that I haven’t heard of such thing.
“The Frenemies are the ones who pretend to be your friends but they are actually one of your enemies,” she replied closely gazing into my eyes, and I faced away as I felt the heaviness of her sexy brown eyes.
“Hey how was your first day at school?” My mom asked excitedly when I got home later that afternoon.
“Actually, it wasn’t my first day at school. I’ve been at school for twelve years now excluding my pre-school time,” I replied rudely.
“You know what I mean Zizipho. I’m asking how your first day, at school in Sandton, was,”
“It couldn’t be better. Hey, look what our new provider has given me today,” I said in a bad manner with a fake smile as I handed my mom a Blackberry.
“Oh no Zizi, we can’t accept this one. I won’t be able to repay it,”
“If it wasn’t because of you, Ziyanda wouldn’t be giving me all these things. But even if I return this Blackberry it’s not like you’ll have money to buy me one of my own,” I said as I took off my shoes and threw myself on the bed as usual.
