Today I sing a song
Not so long a song
But chameleon in my ragged soul
Camouflaged, clinging to the poor

Today I sing a song
Yet not so long
Just to lure the beast off my rags
Wondering when it shall go forever

Today I sing a song
While they become millionaires
With no time to sing a song for the peasant
The song I enjoy, yet it’s not pleasant

Next time I shall sing a song
Not as a song
Only God knows
