I remember schools opening a few days ago.
I remember being happy seeing my friends and teachers.
I remember going to King’s Park Athletics Stadium, all learners paid R20.
I remember fighting with my sister over a juice bottle and bread.
Granny asked who started the fight but beat both of us.
I remember swimming in a river with my friends.
It was so hot when we played ‘ushumpu’ and ‘ingqathu’.
I remember my teacher saying we must open our history books.
I remember hating history because it is about old people who are dead.
I remember getting bored in class but getting promoted every term.
