Without it I would be unhappy

Without it I would be disrespected
I’m claiming it by respecting others in the way I want to be respected

I have the right to choose any career
Without it I would be following other people’s career choices
I’m claiming it by doing job shadowing
Because I am eager to learn to be successful

I have a right to protest
Without it I would be a slave
I’m claiming it by marching
Because I am a South African citizen

I have a right to have shelter
Without it I would be living in misery
I’m claiming it by complaining to government
Because I am a freedom fighter

I have a right to education
Without it I would be a failure in life and suffer too
I’m claiming it by studying hard to succeed
Because I am a dreaming person

I have a right to vote
Without it I would be suffering from work if I did not vote for the party of my choice
I’m claiming it by registering
Because I am a South African citizen

I have the right to freedom of speech
Without it I would be controlled by other people’s opinions like a puppet on strings
I’m claiming it by voicing out my views and opinions
Because I am a survivor

I have a right to personal expression
Without it I would be less confident

Because I am proud
