The next morning, the Seer walks into the king’s palace. The king is sitting underneath a tree. Princess Fikile is sleeping in her nurses arms.

SEER: (Bows down) My King, I greet you. How are you today?

KING NDEBELE: Not good at all Seer. Seven families came to the Palace only this morning. Seven! Yesterday’s storm destroyed their homes and crops and their livestock is dead. I have no choice but to let them live in the palace because I can’t rebuild their homes only for the storm to return today and destroy them again.

SEER: Indeed my King. I went to the mountain yesterday. I slept in a cave. I observed with my two eyes my Lord, the storm. From that high point I could see that it rained in our kingdom only.

KING NDEBELE: Did the gods show you anything Seer?

SEER: No my King. The gods are happy with us. No curse or form of witchcraft is responsible for this my King.

KING NDEBELE: Then what!?

SEER: Not to worry my King we will soon find out why, I don’t know how but there is a reason for everything. How is the Princess my King?

KING NDEBELE: (Sighs) She cried the whole night yesterday. We tried everything to calm her but nothing worked.

SEER: All night you say my Lord? That is concerning, what happens exactly?

KING NDEBELE: She eats at dawn, and sleeps the whole day, like she is now. Then at sunset she wakes up and cries and then she sleeps for a while then she cries again. All night long she just does the same thing till dawn.

SEER: The first storm started at sunset and yesterday’s storm started at sunset also. Both storms ceased at dawn. I am seeing a pattern here my lord. The princess keeps quite at dawn, the storm stops at dawn. The princess sleeps till sunset, there is no storm till sunset. The princess wakes up and cries at sunset and the storm begins at sunset.

KING NDEBELE: You suppose it’s the storms and not that she misses her mother that are making her cry?

SEER: Maybe my King, I will bring her soothing cream to calm her down if the storm comes back again today.
