After a few hours

At Precious’ home.
Maria: What! Honey, are you sure?

Precious: Relax, Ma. I’m not moving there. We’ll be away for only four days.

Carol: Hello! Last time you tried getting on a plane, you had a panic attack.

Precious: This time will be different.

Carol: How?

Precious: Because, I’m ready. All those times I was pretending to be ready because I was so desperate to overcome my fear. Which I still don’t get. Ma, are you sure nothing happened to me when I was young that could have let to this phobia?

Carol: You just admitted that you’re still afraid of flying. Ma, she just did. She cant go.

Precious: I love you guys for worrying about me but, I’m fine. I’ve never been so sure about anything in my life. This feels right, and besides, I can’t change my mind because I’m leaving in two days.

Maria: No way Precious. This decision is too sudden and things seem to be moving too fast. Can’t you postpone it to two months or something?

Carol: Ma is right Precious. This is not normal. At least try working on managing to actually get into the plane. Then you can make the decision after.

Precious: Guys please! You’re blowing this way out of proportion. It’s finalised. I’m going to New Zealand with the man that I love. At least try to be happy for me.

Maria: OK. You can go.

Precious: Thank you.

Maria: I’m not done! You will sleep here tomorrow.

Precious: Ma, you’re not planning on kidnapping me the day before I go, are you?

Maria gave Precious the “don’t mess with me” look.

Precious: OK. I’ll spend the night here tomorrow… with my two favourite ladies in the world. (Smiling)

Carol: What about Lebogang and Masedi?

Precious: They are the third and the fourth, you’re my first two.

Maria: Mara ngwana o! (but this child).

They all laughed.
