Sibu: Wow! What do I owe to this surprise?

Khaya: Is it a problem if I pay my best bud a visit?

Sibu: At this time of the night, yes.

Khaya: Please buddy, offer me a place to crash. Just for tonight and tonight only.

Sibu: You shouldn’t ask. I mean, you are like my other half. There is no one I’ve been with longer than I’ve been with you. So here is the blanket, you might take a nap on bed. Judging the way you are, I can definitely tell that you are exhausted. What are you hiding there?

Khaya: Is that obvious?

Sibu: Yes. It’s like you come from the war.

Khaya: You’re silly!

Sibu: Let me make you something quick. You need at least coffee; strong and black.

Khaya: You don’t have to. I know my way to the kitchen.

Sibu: You are my kin and my honoured guest. And you are hurt. So, I serve you on my premises. So, would Sir like coffee as I prescribe or something else?

Khaya: A coffee would be okay.

Sibu: Coming right away.

Khaya: Sibu! Thanks.

Sibu: It’s no sweat at all. I did what would anyone normal have done.

Khaya: He doesn’t understand. (speaking to himself)

(Sibu comes with hot black coffee accompanied by fresh muffins.)

Sibu: Here Sir is your tea. Sorry I took too long.

Khaya: Thank you.

(Khaya took a sip and munched mouthful muffin. Sibu choose to break the silence.)

Sibu: Do you want to talk about it?

Khaya: Not tonight, please.

Sibu: Cool. But you know that you can tell me anything that’s bothering you. You can always count on me.

Khaya: That’s why at first place you became my friend.

Sibu: Where does that come from?

Khaya: From the base of my heart, of course. (they both chuckle)

Sibu: But I need to know what’s bothering you. At least tell me the half of it. Me and my heart will sleep terribly at night not knowing why my friend has a long face. And why he knocked on my door at midnight.

Khaya: Do you want to hear this or not Sibu?

Sibu: I wouldn’t have asked had I had no interest in knowing what happened to you.

Khaya: (taking a deep breath) I was at Sivusa’s tavern creating memories with my mates.

Sibu: You mean partying without me. Damn you Khaya!

Khaya: It’s not my fault that I am a party animal and everybody wants to party with me. They ambushed me. I can assure you.

Sibu: If you say so.

Khaya: Anyway, I had a drink or two. Next thing I felt dizzy. I exited the spot and walked home. When I was turning at the corner I heard footsteps behind me. I tried to run as they came closer and closer at me. But I was not fast at all. I don’t remember anything. All I remember is waking up with my shirt being the flag of Japan. Pain all over my physique. Influencing me like ocean currents. I was groaning with agony. When I searched my pockets, they were empty! No one to call for help. I then forced myself up and headed towards your door. (he starts sobbing)

Sibu: I am so sorry. If anything I can do to help you, I will do it. Just say the word.

Khaya: You’ve already done enough. Once more, thank you.

Sibu: Let me leave you to finish your food then. Please don’t think anything. You’ve been through a lot for the day. Have peaceful night.
