The Batho family lived in a four room shack balanced by a compound decorated with modern paintings which are inspired by MaNdebele colours and the traditional South African flag. The Batho household owned nothing to speak of. In fact they were low-income household. The furniture was second-hand or hand-me-downs from current and previous employers. They are a middle-class family that couldn’t afford an adequate meal. With all that, they manage to find peace in their house hold.
