PRESENT DAY.

(Qhubekani cocks the gun, he is in tears. Puts it on his head.)

(Three months later/Monday morning/Hillbrow. Linda is in bed covered with sheets her pregnancy is showing. She is on the phone with Qhubekani.)

Linda: The doctor said I should rest.

Qhubekani: (On the other end of the call) Okay I’ll pass by from school…how’s the baby?

Linda: (Rubbing the pregnancy) The baby is fine…we…are craving for fruits.

Qhubekani:(On the other end of the call) hmm I’ll see you when coming back from school. I love you.

Linda: We love you too.

(She hangs up.)

(Same morning/ hillbrow Qhubekani’s flat. Qhubekani is sitting in the bed, he is wearing a blue t shirt, black jeans and slippers. He is packing a black hoody, torn sneakers and a red bandanna. A few hours later while Sir Khumalo is writing on the black board, the students are quiet and writing, Qhubekani enters unheard and unseen. He is wearing the items he was putting in his satchel. Face is completely covered with a red bandanna, he clears his throat for attention, Sir Khumalo and the class gives the attention. He quickly pulls out the sliver pistol and shoots Sir Khumalo two times, one in the head the other in the heart. The class screams, he takes the opportunity to fire two shots in the air and escape.)

(One week later/ day hillbrow police station. The captain is standing up by the window; his back is turned to the door. A police officer comes running carrying an evidence plastic zip lock, with two bullets in it.)

Police Officer: Sir, the gun that was used to kill government officials has been used on a school murder.

Captain: (Still facing the window) I was one week away from my early retirement…you know…that…?

Police Officer: No sir.

Captain: (Still facing the window) I have hopes and dreams that don’t have nothing to do with policing. I want to take my family to Zanzibar. You know? Captains that came before me prayed for this day not to come.

Police Officer: I am lost sir.

Captain: This gun was a blessing when it was missing. Now it’s a blood thirsty curse. Find whoever used that gun before he does.

Police Officer: Who captain, who?

Captain: (Still facing the window)You’re lucky you don’t know him, his name brings anarchy and blood shed, go do as told and you’ll live to be captain someday.

Police Officer: Yes sir.

(He does as told.)

(Same day/ somewhere in Zimbabwe.)

(The room is dark; the computer monitor is the only light. A broad shouldered man is sitting in an office chair with his back turn to the light. He’s on the phone.)

Broad shouldered man: The guns have been fired, it is time. Find the shooter before the authorities do. Revenge is ready to picking…
