You will succeed in all you do, and light will shine on your path. – Job 22:28

You have to firstly set goals and then find paths that will lead you straight to achieving those goals. Aim high, don’t look down on yourself, you must set goals that are not simple because if you do simple things you’ll live a hard life, but if you do hard things you will live a simple life.

Don’t let your weakness disturb you when setting your goals because, everything that you know, you’ve just decided to, whereas those that you don’t know or you’re not capable of it was your decision.

For example, while you were in grade 10 you chose your career path, no one decided for you, it was your decision, so it simply means that it’s up to you. Do you want to be a champion or do you want to be poor?

You’ll find that many people think being rich comes by luck or as an inheritance, hell no! It begins with your mind set.

There are 4 types of goals:

1. Lifetime goals: these are the goals that will take anywhere from a year to an entire lifetime to achieve.

2. Long-term goals: these are your workhorse goals. They need to have a specific time limit put on them, typically 5-10 year period.

3. Short-term goals: they may be a month, six months or a year…nevertheless these goals can further be broken down into daily goals or weekly goals.

4. Stepping stone goals: these are action steps that put you closer to reaching bigger goals.

Let me tell you the truth, it’s dangerous to live without goals, someone once asked me what would I do if they gave me R10 000 000. During that time I was only 10 years old and I had no goals or vision for myself, so I told him that I would give the money to my mom. Imagine if you get R10 000 000 right now, what will you do? Do you have goals? If you don’t have goals and you are a teenager or an adult, please organise yourself before it’s too late.

You must be able to differentiate between goals and wishes. Wishes doesn’t come to pass, most people consider wishes as goals, however, they are completely different. Let me try to give you some examples, wishes is when you say, “I want to have a big family”, “I want to be rich”, “I want to drive a BMW M3” etc. these are all just wishes.

Goals are as follows: “I want to be rich, for me to become rich, I must be a hard worker, I must study business management, therefore, I’ll complete my degree at recorded time, after that I want to start a small business”, “I want to have a big family, I want to have a husband and kids one day” etc., remember these are simply examples of how to set realistic goals.

You have to set up sets that will help you reach your goals, it’s more than just wishing for something, it requires action. You need to be able to differentiate between goals and purpose. Purpose is the main reason why God created you, goals are something that you want to achieve in life, so you must be observant and vigilant.
