Anela walks into the school corridors, and a girl Uvela passes right by her and slams Anela’s shoulder. Uvela laughs and tips Anela’s books to the floor.

“Watch your step, you twitch! What are you gonna do?” Uvela asks, but

Anela smiles and picks up her books.

“Nothing. By ‘nothing’ I mean I could stand here and cry or rattle with you about how unfair you’re making my life, or I could stand as tall as I can be and make it fair.

It doesn’t matter how you paint me in your picture, but in the world we are not so different, both our lives began the same in the doctor’s office. You can pin me down as much as you like, but every time I will rise up a better person than you’ll ever dream to be.

I can see you’re wondering, ‘What’s with the smile?’ See, your words are the same as an evil witch’s laugh at the beginning of a fairy tale and my smile is a princess’s laugh in advance, waiting for a happily-ever-after.” Anela pauses.

“You asked what I am going to do? I will sugarcoat your hatred. You are not worthy of my time.”

She continues with her walk and turns to say, “Good luck for your exam by the way. It’s not every day you get blessings from your enemy, is it? Consider yourself a lucky girl.” She smiles.

Uvela stands there like a pinless hand grenade waiting to explode.
