Sindie

I bounced Naledi on my legs making her giggle in the process.

“…Yeah do that as soon as possible.” I looked up catching Ndumiso and Shawn’s end of the conversation.

They both walked down the stairs, my eyes locked with Shawn, he looked at me as if we never kissed, as if our lips never exchanged fluids. He looked away and continued talked to Ndumiso ignoring me as if I don’t exist.

My heart pricked a little with sadness as I watched him walk away with no turning around to at least look at me.

I don’t know what was I expecting but it was not this, certainly not.

With a yawn from Naledi I rocked her in my arms and that is when

Shawn walks in that very moment, looking handsome without even trying. “I’m told to take you out, anywhere you may like.”

I look up from the now sleepy Naledi “Anywhere?” He nods without offering me “And the baby?” The thought of leaving her behind made me sick to the stomach.

“She can stay behind, Rose is here she’ll be happy to babysit her for you and you honestly don’t have to worry about Ndumiso he’ll be gone for most of the day, he has meetings.”

“Okay.” The thought of getting out of this house was like getting your birthday presents early. “Let me go and put her in her bed and I’ll be back in a few minutes.”

I hurried upstairs, taking the stairs two at the time, I changed into shorts and a tank top and hurried downstairs to meet with Shawn. He led me outside into his black BMW “So where must I take you?”

I leaned back on the chair and sat there for a few moment as I thought “The zoo.”

“Okay.” He said starting the car and soon the mansion was just a little dot.

Shawn

Soon we entered into the gates of the zoo. My eyes could not stop looking at Sindie, she was so beautiful in her shorts. I quickly bought her an Ice cream “You look like a vanilla person.” I said as I caught up with her. She looked at me and smiled, it was that smile that made me want to have her all myself.

“You guessed right.” She said taking the vanilla ice cream from my extended hand. I watched her as she looked at the animals with so much interest. “Look.” She said stopping at the cage if a monkey holding her baby “This is beautiful.”

She walked with a bounce from her steps, as if she was excited. I realised that I rarely see her smile or genuinely laugh and that was what pained me the most, she deserved a smile on her face always.

She stopped and looked at me, she came back and took my hand and started gently dragging me “You walking slow.”

I smiled a little, it was fascinating watching her, it was like I was watching a child being excited for new clothes or toys.

I matched her pace and let her drag me wherever she wanted go, after all today was all about her.
