Zodwa Madonsela is 18 years old. She’s in Grade 12, Mbambiso Secondary School, living in Malelane, Mpumalanga.
Zodwa was born in the Boschfontein village where she’s spent all her life. She started writing at 15, and she sees her poetry as her inner voice on paper. She loves Lynne Ewing’s fiction, and also likes to sing.
Her poem ‘The Black Nation’ is featured in the Paperight Young Writers’ Anthology 2013, a new multilingual literary anthology of original short stories, essays, poetry and illustrations by South African high school students.
