I’m Mlondi Nhlangulela, 22 years of age from Hammarsdale; North of Durban in KZN. I finished studying at the college last year (2012) and I’m currently looking for a job.
What is your favourite book or author?
I mostly read Zulu writings and my favourite book is “Inhliziyo iyayazi Indlela” by AB Shange. The author of this book is also my favourite.
What type of music do you enjoy listening to?
I listen to all kinds except heavy metals but I mostly love Kwaito, RnB and Pop. Chris Brown, Bryan Adams, Eminem and Big Nuz are my favourites.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I play mobile games and write songs. I’m an aspiring RnB and Kwaito singer.
What message do you have for the youth of SA?
Let’s all use our talents in a right way. That will not only improve the life of the South Africans individually but will also create a good image about us in other countries.
When did you start writing and what inspires you to writes?
I started in 2010. I started by writing dialogues and novels but this was taking a long time to finish so I then decided to concentrate on short stories because they are quick. Seeing that we as the youth of today are facing many challenges I began to write something that will have a message to the youth and open their eyes about the things that might cause a problem to them.
What item do you never leave a house without?
My cell phone. I’m actually using it when I write a story.
Which book are you currently reading?
None yet. I’m taking a short break.
What wisdom can you share with the young writers?
God is good no matter what. That’s the first and valuable wisdom a person should have.
