Maipato matriculated from Residensia Secondary School. She graduated on 19 April 2012 with her National Diploma. She is currently at the Vaal University of Technology, where she is studying for a BTech in Tourism Management.
Maipato writes that one her greatest achievements was when she was chosen to participate in the Cell C “Take a Girl Child to Work” campaign, with 19 other girls from her high school.
She says that she is hard-working but doesn’t have a specific role-model. She always aims to improve on her skills and she believes strongly in sharing – whether it is an idea, a piece of useful information or even a slice of bread.
One of Maipato’s biggest goals is to start an organisation that would help provide high school learners with advice and information on how to study further, including how to access grants.
Maipato lives by the motto: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
