Applications for FunDza Writing Fellowship 2022 are now open till the 4 February!
(Please note you need to live in SA and be between the ages of 18 and 30 to apply.)
What is it? The FunDza Writing Fellowship is a 10-month, part-time writing programme focusing either on fiction or non-fiction.

Programme schedule:
The programme includes three online course blocks, each 4 – 6 weeks in length, plus three or four video workshop sessions per course block. (These sessions are one hour, usually take place at 5pm on weekdays, and the data costs will be covered by FunDza).
How it works:
The Fellowship starts with an Introductory course block which includes poetry writing. After this block you will choose to focus on fiction or non-fiction.
Fiction blocks = short story writing and scriptwriting
Non-fiction blocks = writing articles, interviews and essays/blogs
About Assignments:
For each course block you will need to complete an online course which includes writing assignments. This is done through the fundza.mobi site (datafree on all SA networks). You will need to submit the assignments by the submission dates given.
Through the course of the Fellowship you will work with a writing mentor who will help you to develop your writing skills and to produce a portfolio of work.
To fully participate, it is anticipated that Fellows would need to commit around 7-8 hours per week during the course blocks, this includes writing time.
Dates:
Block 1: 7 March – 18 April
Block 2: 30 May – 1 August
Block 3: 12 Sept – 14 November
Final showcase: 28 November
Fellows will receive small stipends after work is completed and submitted, and will also be provided with data for zoom sessions.
