The morning came so quickly and I was already done packing my stuff and whatever we bought together he can keep.
“Is this the final box?” The guy asked I nodded “That’s about everything.” He nodded as he walked out.
I walked around the apartment now feeling lonely in a way; it no longer felt like home that it once was. It felt so… Cold. It looked different too reminding me when we first moved in together we were so happy, so full of life. We already knew how we wanted to decorate it.
I smiled at the memory of us eating our first dinner at this very lounge although back then it was still bare we only had a blanket that we placed on the floor and ate our take aways.
That night we were so happy, it didn’t even matter that we only had a mattress and a two-plate stove and now I have to leave this place where I had shared my laughter, my sadness my everything. These walls hold too many secrets.
I take out the necklace that he gave me for our 3rd year anniversary as a token of his love; not once had I taken it off. I placed it on his night stand and walked out locking the door behind me.
I handed the keys to the landlord thanking her for her wonderful treatment over the years.
I sat inside the car and took a deep breath, I can’t believe that I had simply wrapped my life of 5 years in a few boxes.
I watched the guys drive off, taking my belongings into the storage.
With the plane ticket beside me and my travelling bag at the backseat I drove off into the direction of the airport.
