In the Empangeni village ,the was an insecure girl called Lonwabo.Lonwabo was darkskinned, intelligent and very kind.Every single boy in her class wanted to be with her but she only had a crush on this boy ,Will.Will was a good looking and charming gentleman.

After the December holidays ,Lonwabo was extremely excited to see Will again and her teachers of course. On the first day of school,the class teacher introduced a new learner to the 10th grade class ,the new girl was gorgeous, lightskinned, natural pink lips ,smart and confident. As she was introduced to the class, the boys whistled while the other girls rolled their eyes. While Lonwabo felt threatned , she felt as if the new girl was going to replace her. She even felt insecure about her skin colour,she thought maybe the real reason why all the boys liked the new girl was because she was lightskinned.
She hated the new girl because she was lightskinned and Lonwabo wasn’t, so she decided to ignore the new girl when she wanted to be friends with her. She despised her even more when her crush Will started to hang out with the new girl whereas he had never even said a single word to her except hello. To feed her insecurity ,Lonwabo looked for ways to make her skin lighter. She browsed the internet and finally found something,a skin lightener. Suprisingly, it was really cheap. She bought it and applied it the very same night. When she woke up the next morning, her face was full of blisters and was extremely swollen. Her mother took her to the doctor.

“Have you applied anything in your face that wasn’t prescribed to you by a doctor?”asked The doctor.

“No I didn’t,”lied Lonwabo as she feared her mother would shout at her. The doctor noticed that Lonwabo was scared and gave a prescription for Lonwabo ‘s mother to go and get, while”examining” her. Lonwabo’s mother left,leaving Lonwabo alone with the doctor.

“What’s wrong child,you seem troubled?,” asked the doctor.

“Self esteem problems doctor,” said Lonwabo.

“Oh I see ,well there’s a psychologist I know I can refer you to if you want,” said the doctor concerned.

“I’d appreciate that but I would like us to keep this between us,” said Lonwabo.

“It’s okay, here is the psychologist’s number, set an appointment,” said the doctor.

Tthank you,”said Lonwabo.Lonwabo’s mother entered and they left.

Lonwabilo’s skin was now healed and back to normal and,she saw the psychologist and fell in love with herself again. Will confessed his undying love for Lonwabo but Lonwabo was over him so she decided to set him up with the new girl who seemed to like Will.
