Emily”s eyes fell onto the endless muddy puddle of water, in the pool. She stared into the water and her murky reflection stared back.

“It’s rather unkempt,” said the realtor.

“As you know, this house has been vacant for a long time,” she repeated.

Emily continued to stare into the murky pool water, as the realtors words echoed in her subconscious. Her concentration swallowed up her reflection. The deeper she stared into the water, the power of her reflection overcame her. Her body numbed, as an immense amount of pain, rage and vengeance overtook her. Her still gaze remained glued to the reflection in the water. Air bubbles slowly reached the surface, as a head pertruded from the water. Paralysed, Emily couldn’t move. Slowly, she drowned in her own pool of sweat drops but couldn’t wipe them away. The realtor tapped Emily on the shoulder, she the snapped back to reality.

“Do you see that?!!” asked Emily frantically.

“See what?!’ replied the realtor.

“A head in the pool?” asked Emily while trying to regain her breath.

The realtor stared at Emily with a confused expression, “Oh, uhm that must be the debris floating in the water,” replied the realtor. Emily cleared her throat and replied, “Yes. Yes of course. Pool debris.” The realtor quickly invited Emily back inside and shut the patio door behind her.

“Does IT happen often?” asked the realtor

“Yes, whenever I become fearful,” replied Emily.

“Paralysis is something I have learnt to live with.”

The realtor raised an eyebrow and stood up from her seat.

“Well, now that you’re all settled. It’s my chance to leave?” said the realtor as she hurriedly gathered her belongings.

“Wait. Could you stay with me until my husband arrives?” asked Emily.

“I wish I could but I have another house to show,” said the realtor, as she made her way to the door, while dragging her briefcase and clipboard in her arms. The realtor suddenly turned around to face Emily and said, “…Oh and one more thing. Welcome home. I hope you will stay here forever.”

She then let out a daunting smile and vanished amongst the midst of the heavy fog.
