Dikeledi

My heart was hammering on my chest; the 3 guys were slowly approaching. My mind was wondering whether I should make a run for it; but where will I run?

Right at that second Rachel pulled up. I ran up to the parked car, glad that Rachel arrived at that exact time. Once inside I take a deep breath and look at Rachel with a smile on my face. “Hi,” I say putting my bags at the backseat.

Once we hit the road Rachel looks at me for a second before putting her eyes back on the road. “I can’t believe mama le papa agreed to let you come here.”

I shrug as I lower the radio’s volume. “It was not easy to make them agree to be honest.”

She shakes her head. “I remember when I was a year older than you and I told mom and dad that I wanted to come here they refused for months until I ran away. They refused me for a long time.” She shakes her head and gives out a little chuckle. “I was sure that I would get disowned.”

“I guess that’s why they didn’t go all hard on me, because they thought I’ll run away.”

After she parks the car she looks at me. “You are lucky, and we have arrived.” We both get out of the car, this is the quietest place I have seen and the cleanest too.

“This is the flat I stay in.” She points out as she helps me with my luggage; this is it, now is my time to put my dreams out, I say to myself as I follow her.
