In light of the fact that my dreams were turned down. I just become a retailer at my father’s super market. Years has went by and the siblings rivalry between me and my sister never halted. I’m 22 she’s 20. Anyways I’m still a less privileged child and she still the favorite one. She always get away with anything.

I’ve just prepared a meal for my family, me and my sister we were eating dinner waiting our parents to came back as they were out of the province. Then we heard a random knock at the door,

I get up and went to open the door, to my surprise it wasn’t dad and mom those we were expecting, it was a police man in his uniform meaning he’s on duty.
“Hello I’m Mr. Clement from SAPS is this the house of Kevin Moloi?” he asked

Before I even replied my sister standing at the back answered the question

“Yes he is our father” She said

“They were involved in a car accident unfortunately they couldn’t make it both of them” said the police man

My blood run cold as he uttered those words, my heart was palpitating, I run out of my senses, I stand there addled.

“What do you mean they couldn’t make it” said my sister as she was getting closer to the door.

“I mean they passed away” the police man replied

The shrilling crying voice got me back to my senses and I realized I did lost parents, I started sobbing

The policeman was no longer there and my sister was laying on the floor wailing. I hugged her trying to console her but she wouldn’t stop. I decided to let her cry.
I just walked out not knowing where I was going, I just bump into the club everyone was dancing, drinking not giving a damn about this fucked life, I went straight to the barman, I never been there before

“How can I help you?” said the barman

“Well with anything that would help me to escape the pain, and suffering of this world” I replied

“I got you” he said. Then he gave me a distilled liquor which was made from a fermented fruit juice, it’s color was golden, it flavored like an oak, fruity and subtly sweet. He has given me 8 glasses so far

I was getting drowsy and I lost the balance, I’ve been walking clumsy, stumbling around trying to make my way home.

It’s after three weeks after we buried our parents, the lawyer comes to our house carrying a file

“I’m Mr Smith the lawyer of Kevin Moloi, I’m here to discuss his will” he said as he was opening the file

“You can get ahead Mr” I said

“According to his will the house, the supermarket and the car is left for Anelisa Moloi” he said

Then Mr. Smith left the house, the house was quiet. Right after he left I was after him, going to the club again, to get drunk again the barman already knew me, I met with new friends whomst they introduced me to cigarettes.

“Do you want to give it a try” said a man granting me a cigarette

I just took it and then I inhaled the smoke, I felt the pain and the burning in my throat and lungs I coughed, they were all applauding me and laughing.
The following day I packed my bags and went back to Eastern Cape my home, There was nothing mine left in Cape Town. My bus would departure at 8:00am
Before I left the house my sister was behind my back and then he said

“Daluxolo please come back for me” I could tell she was said or afraid of being left alone in such a big house

I looked at her eyes and then I replied “I will honey, I promise”

She was right I had to come back for her. She’s my sister after all. She then escorted me to the bus station.

I arrived at home first thing I did I went to my granny’s grave I wanted to talk with her

“Hello granny it’s me your son Daluxolo, I’m no longer the one you know the past trauma has turned me to be a drunkard and a stoner, I’m just living a life with no direction I’m here to seek for your guidance” I then clean her grave.

I stayed few days at Eastern Cape and then I made my way back to Cape Town. I arrived at the morning my sister was still in bed but at the couch there was a muscled guy his right arm full of tattoos and his fingers were occupied with the rings, he had a curls hair.

“Hi” I greeted him

“Hoe gaan dit?” He said. That’s how I knew he is a colored

I was about to ask what he was doing there, but then my sister came through

“Welcome come home” she said yawning

“Meet David my boyfriend he is staying with us”

“Why?” I asked puzzled
“Well I’m pregnant with his child so he’ll be taking care of me” she said rubbing her belly

“what about school?” I asked quite furiously

“My dad left everything with me so what’s the use of the school?”

Let me admit I was defeated!
