The yard was peaceful for a change,something made it look amiss. The monolith was gone. She found a dark hole where the monolith was discovered. The houses were dark ,a few lights were bright making the darkest night. Where were the dogs ? Chichi thought for a minute. The main house had the front door opened There was a chilly breeze that blew through her,she wondered why the landlord hadn’t closed the door. The winter had came too soon,she rushed to her home but the curtains were still open and her mother was sitting in the dark,strangely.

She stood on the threshold wondering if she should just run to her room and not greet her. How could her mother possibly do something to her ,she was still her mother. That is what she convinced herself. The thought of her mother as a alien drained her. She sneaked in and closed the door quietly and moved quickly to her room.

‘ What if my mother change me while I ‘ m sound sleepy,’ she thought loudly. Her constant working mind jumped to conclusion

She had missed chatting with her mother and cracking jokes. She missed founding hot meals ready for her. They would have been watching ‘ Family Feuds’ on the sofa with a bowl of popcorns. Steve Harvey was her favorite comedian,his jokes were hilarious. Because he was in South Africa , her mother gained more interest in his show. She missed getting hugs every moment. Even when she decided to stop going to school,her mother supported her and would wait for a takeaway from the Fasts Foods but she had none today because the supervisor wasn’t there.

Her mother sat down like a zombie ,she was not even breathing but there some strange sounds coming from her. She recalled the dream of her face halved . A tiny green alien was inside sitting on a chair with gears as if they were used to control her mother. She quickly rushed to her room. She jumped in bed and scrolled down her phone. Every second she felt a horrible panicky feeling in her stomach.

Some voices echoed through her room . She wondered who it was. She checked the window and found a group of people and some aliens . She peered quietly because she didn’t want to alert them. If they found her,she was going to be in serious trouble.She forced a smile on her face to disguise how she felt. Depression wanted to hijack her ,she wanted to create a dread of hope,believing this was a bizarre dream. She wished something could wipe the face if aliens on earth.

They nodded and each headed to their homes. Some people who behaved like her mother were there but she still wanted to believe it . Her heart pounded fast,hopeless. Chichi sneaked in her bed quietly. She knew no one was aware that she was the only left. She knew every being was changed except her.

Days passed she would snoop for food and restroom. Every day her hands got clummy and colder as she tiptoed around the place she called home.The sky was overcast,hot and humid for days but different.The outside looked strange.Bakenburg had been a hive of activities but it turned to a desolate place. The rubbish containers were still there ,papers flew in the air as the wind blew.The street looks quiet,no children rushing to school or running playing hide and seek in the street. There were no pedestrians or women who sell at stalls. The new world was a panic stricken.

A clattering echo sounded from outside and she sneaked to check through the window. There were green and blue aliens and humans socialing and laughing.A thought came in her mind,’How was she going to survive as the human left ‘. It felt like a dream but she pinched her wrist and check again. It was real,tears fall on her cheeks,

” My mom is a alien,” she hyperventilated and sudden a alien looked through window. She quickly close it and jumped on her bed trembling.

She covered her head with a blanket ,clutching it tightly petrified. The aliens sniffed and sense one was not one of them . She heard them whispering and her body couldn’t stop shivering. The incident of meeting the aliens liens by window startled her big time.
