I have always asked myself,
Why do we cry?
What makes us cry?
Why wouldn’t we cry?
We don’t cry because we want to cry or we enjoy it.

Honestly, we wouldn’t cry if
we knew that life came with a manual,
so that we could know how to act instead of react.
If we chose faith over fear
instead of fear over faith.
If fear didn’t control us,
If our shoulders weren’t so burdened,
and if we didn’t carry heavy hearts
that felt like empty stages.
If we focused on making instead of faking.

Why do we cry?
What makes us cry?
Why wouldn’t we cry?
We wouldn’t cry if we could pay a fee for us to be free.
If we could set ourselves free by making everyday our freedom day.

We wouldn’t cry if we knew
who to trust
or atleast somebody told us who we should and shouldn’t trust.
If our brothers and sisters
didn’t turn against us.
If our friends didn’t turn into our enemies.

We wouldn’t cry if we
were true to ourselves
more than we can be to others.
If we focused on building instead of destroying.
If we openly and truly expressed ourselves instead of acting all holly.
If those who were supposed
to lift and inspire us
didn’t look down on us.

We wouldn’t cry if we surrendered
and gave our lives to God.
You know, we were all once told
not to think about what makes us sad
but it still makes us sad,
it still makes us cry.
No matter how hard we try,
something will always make us cry.
So,why wouldn’t we cry?
