The sun toasted earlier
The sky blue and heating
Only a few trees existing
Sadly, their leaves were shed
Shame! There was no shade
We couldn’t hide
The grass was no longer green
House roofs completely unclean
Boreholes and wells only by name
Wetlands and deserts were the same
Rain was all we have been praying for
The Wind blew, grew, and flew
Destroying houses as it flew
The sky grew gray, no longer blue
Dust stuck all over the place
Leaving no empty space
Clouds formed at pace
With the smell of rain in the air,
The long-awaited summer could be felt
But it never rained
The winds grew and grew
The clouds flew and flew
Nothing to catch them
Trees and forests had been cleared
And never replaced
Surely! Trees were all we needed
It never rained
