How could I not have fallen for you? When you walked into my life with the brightest smile, your eyes twinkled whenever you looked at me, and for the first time, I felt unconditional love from a stranger.
It doesn’t seem right that you suddenly don’t feel right. We were meant to make memories, not dwell on memories. You were supposed to be my one and only, but life has other plans. I had drawn out the perfect picture, and you were my masterpiece.
I don’t know how we got here; we used to be happy. We used to love genuinely, but the pen we used to write our love story had run out of ink. It seems like holding onto you hurts more than being without you.
I have to get used to waking up and not reviewing your “Good morning” and going to bed without getting your “I love you.”
We fail as lovers, even though the easy way out is impossible. We could both just get up and leave, but we can’t. We aren’t too brave for that; we are too weak. We keep going, hoping it will get better. We are holding on cause we think there are better days ahead.
What if the grass isn’t greener on the other side? What if we are holding on for more hurt and heartbreaks?
Hence I’m letting you go.
Fly away, my love.
