Adjectives tell you more about a noun or a pronoun.

Read these sentences:

  • The sun shone on the land.
  • The blazing sun shone on the thirsty land.
  • “Blazing” and “thirsty” are adjectives that tell you more the nouns, “sun” and “land”. Both sentences give the same basic information, but the second sentence shows a picture of how hot the sun was, and how dry the land was. Adjectives make your writing more interesting.
