It’s the release night. I am as ready as I’ll ever be.
I am dressed to kill in Kangol gear, a powder-blue three-piece suit.
A limo takes us to Club 777. The place is packed with beautiful, sexy women and well-dressed gents. We get acquainted with the owner, Mr. J.
“Gadaffi, I am happy to open my club to you. Any friend of DJ Casino’s is a friend of mine,” says the buff Nigerian fellow with dreadlocks.
We shake hands. “Thanks, Mr. J.”
We hit the stage. The club goes quiet. I feel excited and anxious at the same time, with the thought of messing this whole thing up in front of all these people.
My voice trembles a little as I speak over the mic. “Sanibonani. Igama lami uThembinkosi, insizwa kaMndebele. But you may call me Gadaffi. Ngicela ningi boleki ndlebe.”
I have to get my head in the game. I take a deep breath and speak more confidently. “This track, Party Mode, goes out to all you party animals in the building.”
“DJ, hit it!”
Waves presses play.
The crowd goes wild. They love our music!
