Are Sundays always this boring, or is this a foreshadowing of many Sundays to come as we head to the longest recess of my life? I mean two months, and some days, of holidaying is just too much time for doing nothing.

What am I going to do to keep myself busy? It’s times like these that I wish my spoon of gold was not forcefully taken out of my mouth. If I could afford it now I would spend my holidays taking the through Mzansi. But ja, we don’t wana go over that story again; old news.

Tee reckons we should start “hunting for jobs” for the holidays.

Ha! ha! ha!

But she was dead serious.

Really! I mean… I have no words. Me? Working? During the holidays? Never! I would rather be at home, sitting like a couch potato in front of the telly, playing channel hopping… I think it’s about time mom installs a DSTV, otherwise I will be bored to death. I mean my days are draggy enough as it is.

I just can’t wait for Sim and mom to get back from church. But I won’t tell her how bored I was or else she will do her “You know church could do you some good” routine again – another matter worth laughing at.

Not funny ha ha, but funny that she of all people would want me go to church with her. She’s the one person who never fails to remind me of how unholy I am. I think she thinks she’s employed by the heavens. If she could, I think she would drag me to the church altar, kicking and screaming, to confess and repent from my ways.

But alas, gone are those days when I would be forced to wear my Sunday’s best and pretend to be having fun in church. Now I can just chill to some old ballads – Metro is rocking it today – and feel older than I actually am.

Share your Sunday chill with me on Facebook: The Diary of Zinzi Zwane.
